- Stella McCartney for Adidas

Sports fashion—the marriage of the designer sensibility with athletic tech fabrics and comfort—is relentlessly forcing its way into our daily lives. Puma’s various collaborations with designers like Neil Barrett and Alexander McQueen, Norma Kamali’s new line with Everlast, and of course Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3 Collection for Adidas have succeeded in moving hoodies and sweatpants into the mainstream. Stella McCartney’s line for Adidas (starting at $50 for running shorts) is consistently pitch-perfect. The fit is feminine, not blocky, colors are subtle, not primary, and the fabrics are brainy and high tech, resulting in workout wear that should be flaunted outside the gym.
Best Sports Fashion
From the 2006 Best of New York issue of New York Magazine
