Profile
Many spas claim to merge health and beauty in their treatments, but Juva MediSpa actually shares its space with a dermatology office and a plastic surgery clinic. The brainchild of Dr. Bruce Katz (he of the many Today Show appearances), the spa' primary staff consists of estheticians, massage therapists, hair removal experts, and an acupuncturist, all of whom take full advantage of the doctors across the hall; facialists consult dermatologists on problem-skin cases, and physical therapists often work with massage therapists to tackle muscular issues. Since the spa is in a doctor’s office, its rooms do resemble hospital suites, but dim lighting and soothing music erase any Gray’s Anatomy vibes. Facials are a 90-minute commitment involving a sonic brush scrub; several masks; small, precise extractions; and the use of Juva's in-house product line, developed with help from Dr. Katz. For the body, deep tissue massages come with recommended yoga poses. Treatments are both soothing and refreshing, as the spa prides itself on relaxing clients while also giving them more energy for the day. Juva is also a pioneer in laser hair removal and skin therapy: Anything that wasn' exfoliated or rubbed away during your treatment can be carefully and quickly zapped instead.
