Formerly known as the Angelique Bed and Breakfast, this colorful Carroll Gardens brownstone provides a welcomed respite less than a block from bustling Smith Street. Almost all of the original 1898 interior construction remains and the walls are adorned with oil paintings by renowned artist Margo Spoerri, the property’s former owner. Each of the six guest rooms is identified by its dominating color scheme. There are four large rooms with queen beds that begin at $160 per night and decrease based on the length of stay. The other considerably smaller rooms come with a twin bed and begin at $125 per night, although borderline claustrophobics will want to spend the extra money and upgrade. The innkeeper, Johanna Spoerri, owns three small dogs and welcomes pets.
ProsJohanna Spoerri has lived in the building for thirty years and is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to neighborhood history. She keeps an active library of books about New York City and the neighborhoods of Brooklyn.
Cons
There is only one bathroom on each floor, meaning that guests will be sharing it with two other rooms if the B&B is fully booked.
